Noble Coffee

Coffee Trivia

Coffee was first discovered in Ethiopia around the year 900 and came to Europe in the early 1600’ss

America became the land of coffee drinkers following the Boston Tea Party in 1773.

Most of the world’s coffee is grown within a broad geographic band bordered by the Tropic of Capricorn to the south.

About two-thirds of growers cultivate the fine-flavored, delicate Arabica, an elongated bean that requires an altitude of 3,000 to 6,000 feet.  The robusta, a small round bean, is grown at lower altitudes, and therefore more abundant and less expensive.

Much of the coffee sold in supermarkets is a blend of Arabica and robusta beans.

One of the most popular misconceptions about coffee is that it leads to health problems.   Instead, recent studies about coffee have led to a shift in beliefs about coffee and health.  Taken in moderation, coffee does not normally lead to dehydration, and other studies have shown that consuming a moderate amount of coffee does not lead to an increase in blood pressure.  Another misconception about coffee is that espresso has more caffeine than regular coffee.  In fact, it has less caffeine.
